Draw suits Mr Whatever at Scottsville
The inside draw has always been a major factor to any runner contesting a race up the straight at Scottsville and could result in Mr Whatever and Sheik’s Brashee fighting out Race 5 at the course today, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1000m.

Mike Miller-trained Sheik’s Brashee has drawn along the rail with Pat Lunn’s charge, Mr Whatever, jumping from barrier No 2. They have a similar style of running in that they prefer to sit a length or two off the pace and then run at the leaders.
As this is a not a handicap Mr Whatever could have the advantage in that based on his merit rating he is 3kg better handicapped than his rival. This five-year-old Mogok gelding has an excellent record over the course and distance, having run six times for four wins and two places. He will be ridden by Stuart Randolph.
Sheik’s Brashee is a year younger and also loves this course and distance. He has raced three times over the Scottsville 1000m for two wins and a 3.50-length second behind Eddie Sweat. The son of The Sheik will have the services of Anthony Delpech in the irons.
Eddie Sweat is also in the field and on form should be able to beat Sheik’s Brashee again at the weights. The only concern is he is second reserve runner for the Grade 2 Merchants at Turffontein tomorrow and would obviously favour taking his place in that field. If he runs, Frank Robinson’s charge must be a contender.
