World champion Boks bringing Webb Ellis Cup home: All the details

The Boks are now four-time World Cup winners.


The back-to-back world champions, the Springboks, are set to arrive back in South Africa on Tuesday afternoon, after winning the Rugby World Cup in Paris on Saturday night.

Siya Kolisi’s Boks beat their arch-rivals, the All Blacks, 12-11 in an epic encounter at the Stade de France to become four-time champions after also triumphing in 1995, 2007 and 2019.

They are also back-to-back champions after winning the trophy in Japan four years ago, when they beat England in the final.

Welcome home

Fans can start preparing for the world champions’ arrival at OR Tambo International on Tuesday, with the players and coaches set to enter the arrivals hall from 12pm.

And if the build-up to the final in Paris on Saturday is anything to go by the gees at the airport on Tuesday is sure to be as epic as the game itself and after-match celebrations.

The team will also host a press conference at the airport and show off the Webb Ellis Cup. Kolisi will be joined by coach Jacques Nienaber and other selected squad members.

Bok flyhalf Handre Pollard kicked four penalties in Saturday’s final, while the All Blacks scored a try and kicked two penalties.
