Benni not interested in Pirates job for now

McCarthy is said to be the favourite to take over from interim coach Rulani Mokwena.

A source close to Benni McCarthy has revealed that the former Cape Town City mentor is not headed to coach Orlando Pirates amidst the circulating rumours that Pirates coach Rulani Mokwena’s days are numbered at the club.

“It is no secret that Benni loves Pirates because he played for the badge and he won titles with the club. Right now he is not interested in coaching Pirates, maybe in the future but now he is focused on his family and exploring other options out of the country since he was fired from Cape Town City,” the source told Phakaaathi.

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana mentor Molefi Ntseki says it is unfortunate that Benni McCarthy was sacked by Cape Town City, but believes his axing could work out in Bafana Bafana’s favour.

Ntseki plans to have an overseas-based South African coach based overseas to scout players that qualify to play for Bafana Bafana and with McCarthy having relocated to Scotland to be his family, McCarthy could be Bafana’s scout.
