Chiefs failed to come up with the cash for Castro

Kaizer Chiefs were offered Leonardo Castro by Mamelodi Sundowns but failed to come up with the cash Masandawana wanted.

This was revealed in a report carried by Isolezwe on Tuesday where a source is quoted as saying the teams had reached an agreement but Amakhosi failed to pay up.

It has emerged that Sundowns only registered the Colombian forward on the last day of the transfer window because they had been waiting on the Glamour Boys to pay up and take him to Naturena.

Although no figures were mentioned, the report suggests the transfer fee demanded by the Brazilians was a little steep and that could be the reason Amakhosi withdrew their interest.

It is further revealed that it was Amakhosi manager Bobby Motaung who wanted Castro while coach Steve Komphela was not too keen on the 28-year-old striker.

Castro has struggled for game time at Chloorkop and is reportedly unhappy and wants out of the club.
