Phakaaathi sources have claimed that Maritzburg United are kicking themselves for letting Wiseman Meyiwa slip through their fingers.

Meyiwa was discovered by Xolani Madlala who put him into Maritzburg’s reserves but he left after a while and joined Chiefs’ academy.

The 17-year-old has now graduated to the senior team where he is making a name for himself with solid performances and even scored his first goal on his debut.

“He left because at the time the chances of graduating to the senior team were slim and now the management are wondering how they let him go because he is proving to be a gem,” said a source close to the team.

Ironically, Meyiwa, who started in Chiefs’ last two game, is set to be in the starting line-up when Amakhosi take on Maritzburg at Harry Gwala Stadium on Wednesday night.
