Former Sundowns winger goes AWOL from Maritzburg

'There's no communication with him. We spoke to his manager but no luck,' says Coach Muhsin Ertugral.

Coach Muhsin Ertugral has confirmed that Yannick Zakri has seemingly gone absent from the club Maritzburg United.

Speaking after his side’s 2-0 defeat against Golden Arrows on Sunday, Ertugral said he was hoping that the Ivorian player comes to his senses and return to the club.

“I’m hoping Zakri will come to his senses and save his career. He’s a good player, just needs to obey rules of the club,” Ertugral told reporters.

“There’s no communication with him. We spoke to his manager but no luck. We wish him all the best on his career.

“We are hoping whoever will take him will be able to save him. Football is a tough sport and your career can end in a split second.”

Zakri, who has also played for Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town in South Africa, has made 13 appearances for Maritzburg this season, scoring one goal for the Team of Choice.
