Celtic decide against signing ex-Pirates star

Sfiso Myeni is set to continue his search for a new club after Bloemfontein Celtic decided not to sign him following a two-week trial with the club.

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder was released by Celtic on Thursday after failing to convince the club’s technical team to offer him a contract.

According to a source, Myeni’s age counted against him.

“He was with the team for two weeks. But the club informed him on Thursday that they won’t be signing him,” a source told Phakaaathi.

“His age counted against him. He is good player, he did everything right and he still has what it takes to play in the League, but the fact that there are development players who were promoted, the club thought he should go and find another club that will play him immediately.”
