Safranko reveals his favourite SA food

'One of the things I enjoy about South Africa is oxtail and pap,' says the Slovakian born striker.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ striker Pavol Safranko may yet convince some of the supporters of his scoring prowess but he has settled well. In fact he is so used to South Africa he has already fallen in love with pap.

The 27-year-old Slovakian joined Masandawana before the start of the current campaign and has shown signs of being a good find.

Phakaaathi reported earlier how Kaizer Chiefs’ Samir Nurkovic played a role in convincing the lanky lad to join him in the Premier Soccer League – one of the best run leagues in the world.

SPeaking to Sundowns’s website people this week, Safranko revealed that he was still adjusting and hoping to contribute more than the three goals he has contributed in seven appearances so far.

“One of the things I enjoy about South Africa is oxtail and pap”, he said.

“It’s interesting and very different to be honest, but I am trying to learn every day how I can help the team. Sundowns is an amazing club with amazing people.”

And he has been well received and enjoys the joyous mood in camp brought especially by Denis Onyango and Reyaad Pieterse who he said were the funniest in the Masandawana camp.

“The funniest I would say is a tight battle between Denis Onyango and Reyaad Pieterse, those two guys are really funny.

“I can’t particularly point to only one person that I am close with in the team, there is Divine Lunga, George Maluleka, Brian Onyango, Kermit Erasmus and Ricardo Nascimento – if I can just mention a few.

“There’s so many good people in this team I can’t choose,” said Safranko.
