AmaZulu keeper unhappy with slow start

AmaZulu FC goalkeeper, Siyabonga Mbatha is unhappy with the team’s slow start following two defeats in a row since the beginning of the Absa Premiership. Mbatha was hit by a last minute goal in their last game that saw Polokwane City pick all the points and leaving Usuthu winless last weekend.

Usuthu are now bottom of the standings after conceding four goals in two matches and Mbatha says this may delay the team’s mandate of finishing in the top eight at the end of the season.

“It’s getting tougher,” Mbatha said. “I think we need to do it for our fans and our coaches because as a team we need to take full responsibility now and say we got ourselves into this situation and how we do get ourselves out of it because I think we’ve got the capabilities.

“For me I don’t think this is something we need to put ourselves into every season because last year we had one point after six games and only started picking up points later on. I think it’s important that we start our season very well,” he said.

Usuthu’s next game is a home match against Orlando Pirates on August 20 at the King Zwelithini Stadium where they hope to curb their bad start.
