Baloyi and Mabena join Celtic

Bloemfontein Celtic have announced the signing of  midfielder Lucky Baloyi and striker Ndumiso Mabena.

Both players join Siwelele on free transfers after being released by Kaizer Chiefs and Platinun Stars respectively.

They join Given Mashikinya as the latest signings at Celtic after the attacking midfielder joined Siwelele as part of swap deal that saw Lyle Lakay move to Cape Town City.

Baloyi was released by Chiefs after failing to cement a place in the club’s starting line-up, while Mabena left Dikwena following the expiry of his contract.

Stars were said to be keen to retain him but later claimed that his wage demands were stopping them from giving him a new contract.

The trio are the first batch of signings made since new club coach Veselin Jelusic joined the club.

“We are glad that the matter between ourselves and City concerning Lakay has been solved harmoniously. Lakay was still contracted to the team and even though he wanted to leave it was prudent for him to follow appropriate procedures,” Konco told the Celtic website.

“City approached us in a professional way trying to solve the matter and after deliberations and also consultation with our technical team, we agreed to sign Given and allow Lyle to join them,” he concluded.
