Chiefs’ Mthembu close to Celtic move

Kaizer Chiefs striker Siphelele Mthembu is in Bloemfontein to finalise a move to Bloemfontein Celtic.

Mthembu, who has struggled to break into the Amakhosi starting lineup since joining them from Platinum Stars in July 2014, is set to sign a six-month loan deal with Siwelele.

Mthembu’s agent, Miguel Paiva, confirmed the player is in Bloemfontein to finalise the deal.

“Yes, it’s true that he is in Bloemfontein, but it’s important to emphasise that nothing has been finalised yet. Let’s wait for the next 48 hours, hopefully the deal will be concluded by then,” Paiva told Phakaaathi.

Still with Celtic, caretaker coach Lehlohonolo Seema remains in charge of the team and is likely to stay on until the end of the season.

Seema has done well since taking over from Serame Letsoaka, who parted ways with the club in October following a poor start to the season.

Now word is that the Celtic management wants the former Orlando Pirates defender to continue until at least the end of the 2016/17 season.
