Davids proud of players’ resilience after teammate’s death
Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids has praised his young players’ character after they managed to put behind the passing away of their teammate Mlondi Dlamini and getting on with the job like esteemed professionals.

The 20-year-old Dlamini died almost two weeks ago in a car accident.
“I am proud of how the players came out and stuck to the plan and put what has happened in the past few days behind them. I know now that they are in the dressing room they might be thinking about Mlondi and the sadness will come back,” said Davids after guiding his side to a goalless draw away to Chippa United on Wednesday night.
Davids however felt they could have easily got away with three points had they been sharper upfront.
After their storming start to the season, the Team of Choice have run out of steam and have not won in their past five matches.
“I think we should have wrapped it up in the first half. It’s really disappointing. Normally you say you are happy with a point but I am not. I think with the opportunities we got we should have done better.
“If we had scored first they would have come out and try for the equaliser and the game would open up.” Davids said his team are playing well and just need to be more precise in front of goal.
“If you keep playing the way we do, performing the way we do… we just need to do better in the final third and I think we are on the right track,” said the 36-year-old mentor.
