Ex-Pirates midfielder leads player exodus at Highlands

Highlands Park are reportedly planning to release a host of players in preparation for next season.

According to the Sunday Sun, former Orlando Pirates midfielder Mahlatse Makudubela, Ex-Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Enocent Mkhabela and striker Petros Ngebo are amongst those that will be offloaded by the club.

Ngebo and Makudubela have only played three games for the Lions of the North in the 2018/19 season, while Mkhabela is yet to make an appearance for Owen Da Gama’s side.

While the future looks bleak for Mkhabela and Ngebo, Makudubela could yet be retained by Highlands judging on Da Gama’s comment on him.

“We’re trying to push Mahlatse as high as possible. If you look back at his history, he didn’t play much at Chippa and didn’t have much game time at Orlando Pirates, We’re trying to get him in a position where he can play his best football. Hopefully, it’ll happen in future,” Da Gama told the Sunday Sun.
