Maritzburg coach backs Ndlovu for European move

Maritzburg United coach Fadlu Davids believes Siphesihle Ndlovu has the ability to ply his trade in Europe.

Ndlovu has been a star player for the Team of Choice this season, and has been recognised for his efforts by earning a Bafana Bafana call-up for the four nations tournament to be held in Zambia later this month.

The 21-year-old put on a brilliant performance again last weekend and won the Man-of-the-Match award in Maritzburg’s 2-1 Nedbank Cup win over Royal Eagles on Sunday.

Davids believes Ndlovu is the favourite to win the PSL Young Player of the Season award.

“I don’t see anyone really challenging Ndlovu for the [Young Player of the Season] award,” Davids told the club’s website.

“It’s unbelievable what he has achieved so far. Talking of men against boys, with him it shows with his understanding of the game; when to slow it down, when to pick up the pace.

“That’s what he did, with 10 men [after Bevan Fransman’s sending off], sometimes you don’t have to play fast, and sometimes you do.

“His understanding of the game, his reading of the game, tactically you give him any instruction and he takes it to a tee.

“We should be thinking about him moving all the way to Europe,” added Davids.

The Maritzburg coach went on to compare Ndlovu to Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.

“I like to look around the world when I compare our local players to be the best, and Ndlovu reminds me of N’Golo Kante of Chelsea. His work-rate, his tackles and everything about him is the same. He is a young player that is improving, and I have always been watching him play since I came back into the country,” concluded Davids.
