Mbele’s resignation at Pirates comes after he has been in the spotlight, with Buccaneers ex-player Thulasizwe Mbuyane claiming that the administrator forced former coach Roger de Sa not to play him.

Mbuyane, who was once the darling of the Pirates supporters because of his goal-scoring abilities and celebrations, revealed that Mbele and Bucs director Screamer Tshabalala have always interfered with the head coach’s job at the club.

Orlando Pirates has accepted the resignation of the club’s club’s Administration Manager Mr Floyd Mbele,” read a short statement from the club.

“The Club Management wishes him the best in his future endeavours.”

This is not the first time Mbele will be leaving the Buccaneers, with the 53-years old having previously left the Soweto giants to join Platinum Stars, which has since been dissolved. Meanwhile, Mbele’s sudden exit at Bucs comes after numerous reports linking Sinky Mnisi with a job at Pirates

The experienced football administrator was previously with DStv Premiership side Royal AM, but, a lot of controversies at the club saw him being suspended by team president Shawn Mkhize last year.

Mnisi announced his departure from the club in January this year, and he has been without a club since then making the Bucs rumours more believable, especially after the sudden exit of Mbele.

Mbele vacates his position at the club with the Buccaneers having won the MTN8 trophy this season. The club is also in the running for the Nedbank Cup, having qualified for the semifinals.
