Frustrated Chiefs midfielder wants out

Kaizer Chiefs' unsettled midfielder Keagan Buchanan is said to be weighing up his options and considering asking for a mutual termination of his contract so he can look for a new club.

Phakaaathi sources have revealed that Buchanan feels his career will go nowhere at the Naturena-based club as he has struggled for game time since joining two seasons ago.

“The arrival of (Sphelele) Ntshangase and (Kabelo) Mahlasela has unsettled him even further. He is now waiting to see if teams who have enquired about him are successful in their bids for a loan deal. If that fails, he might ask to be released from his contract,” said the source.

Phakaaathi has previously reported that Maritzburg United are interested in landing the midfielder on loan. However, Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia later confirmed that his club is no longer interested in signing Buchanan.

Buchanan hinted at leaving Amakhosi during the current transfer window earlier this week when he posted a video of himself in Bloemfontein Celtic colours providing assists to his former teammates.
