Link to European teams not affecting Billiat’s form

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Khama Billiat rubbished rumours that interest by overseas clubs in his services are to blame for his dip in form.

The Zimbabwean international admits he has not been at his best for the Brazilians in recent matches as he is expected to play a key role in coach Pitso Mosimane’s team.

Billiat was crowned player of the 2015/16 season after making 44 appearances, scoring 15 goals and giving 17 assists.

“I don’t believe it has to do with my performance … Even last season, there were moments when it looked like I was going to leave the team. I didn’t and I still kept on going,” said Billiat, who has been linked with clubs in France and Egypt.

“I also want to see him (the Billiat of last season). I just need to work a little bit harder like my coach (Pitso Mosimane) has been saying,” he said.

The 26-year-old hopes his team overturns their fortunes in the Tshwane derby against SuperSport United on Thursday night.

“Fatigue is always going to be there, but you can always win games if your mind is right.

“We’ve been looking for a turnaround; to bring back the Sundowns that everyone knows,” he added.
