Moleko happy to be given an opportunity to play

The right-back has only made six appearances for the team this season, with Ramahlwe Mphahlele being the preferred starter.

Kaizer Chiefs defender Kgotso Moleko was pleased to get a chance to play during the side’s Nedbank Cup win over Acornbush United last weekend and says he is enjoying healthy competition with Mphahlele, who is the preferred choice for coach Steve Komphela.

However, he says he enjoys the competition with the former Mamelodi Sundowns captain.

The game was Moleko’s sixth appearance this season, having played in four cup games and two league matches.

“It’s always good to get an opportunity to play,” the 27-year-old was quoted as saying on the club’s website.

“It’s a healthy competition for the right-back slot. We talk a lot with each other. Even during half-time of the game against Acornbush, ‘Rama’ spoke with me, giving me some advice. He told me to sometimes make a run more straight towards the box.”
