Modiba gives back after helping United win

The winger has recently helped SuperSport United collect maximum points in their fight to get out of the relegation zone.

Winger Aubrey Modiba travelled all the way to his birthplace, Mentz Matshelapata, in Limpopo, to hand over a multipurpose sports facility to his former primary school, Makgefola.

Modiba has recently helped SuperSport United collect maximum points in their fight to get out of the relegation zone with a winning goal in their 3-2 victory over Free State Stars at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night.

The United winger, who is the graduate of the Nedbank Ke Yona team, partnered with the financial institution and sports trust to give back to his community.

“This is very pleasing. I’m so happy and proud of everyone who helped me to get where I am today,” said Maphosa.

“I hope learners in my former school will utilise this facility to their own advantage and help them to achieve their goals. I’m not saying they should all be soccer players, but they can also partake in other sports.”

Modiba, whose SuperSport club is battling to get of the relegation zone, said they were working hard to try to collect maximum points to survive the chop and that everybody in the team was willing to fight hard.

“We have to fight to the end, we have a very good team with quality players, it’s just that things have not gone our way this season.”

After registering a victory against Ea Lla Koto, the Pretoria team is now on 14th place in the league with 31 points, one point ahead of 15th placed Ajax Cape Town, as two more games remain until the end of the season.
