Motaung stresses Safa support in Bafana’s success under Baxter

By Phakaaathi Reporter

Motaung said Baxter achieved the success that he did at Amakhosi because of the support he got from the team’s management.

Baxter returned to South Africa almost five years ago to coach Chiefs, where he would go on to win two league title, the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup.

“Stuart being in the national team, I think it’s okay. But it will obviously depend on the technical team he puts together. Today’s football is not just about the coach, it is about the technical team, because you have sport science, doctor and all kinds of things, it players a very important part […] because you need to know a lot about your opponents and what our other players are doing in other countries. It is not going to be an easy task for him, but hopefully, he gets good support. Let’s wait and see,” said Motaung.

The incoming coach will have his first Bafana Bafana media briefing next week Monday, where he is expected to outline his plans for the national team.
