Ntseki ‘working hard’ on Chiefs attackers to improve scoring

Kaizer Chiefs‘ coach, Molefi Ntseki, is well aware of the challenge his team faces in terms of scoring goals up front.

However, he’s not shying away from it and is actively addressing the issue to ensure the team can capitalise on their chances in the upcoming matches.
And as they kick off their Carling Knockout campaign, Chiefs will need to find their scoring form.
The first round sees them hosting AmaZulu at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening, and getting those goals will be crucial for a strong start in this new cup competition.
“I think goalscoring is a problem,” admitted Ntseki this week.
He was speaking ahead of the weekend’s clash.
“It is not only on the technical side, especially, when it comes to your offensive play and goalscoring. It also has a mental side to it,” said Ntseki.
“We always talk of composure. The question will be, what is composure? And when do you apply composure?
“When you look at it now, when we miss one goal we get more worried about missing too many and we end up missing too many,” explains Ntseki.
“So, I think it is more of a mental side of it for players to understand that chances are coming from different angles of the game.
“It can be a chance from a setplay and it can be a chance from one-on-one with the goalkeeper. It can also be a chance from combination play and crosses.
“These are the moments that we are working on and feel whenever our players in the team get a very clear understanding that when a ball comes from this angle what is likely to happen.”
Ntseki says he will be preaching the sharing of responsibilities in the team to avoid players overburdening themselves.
“But the most important thing is for us to share responsibility. At times we tend to take everything upon ourselves and we give away an opportunity to score,” he says.
