Pirates hit the jackpot with Khuzwayo signing – Mayoyo

Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Innocent Mayoyo believes Brilliant Khuzwayo was a great acquisition for the Buccaneers.

Mayoyo stressed the importance of signing players that understand the culture of the team.

“Pirates made a good acquisition with Khuzwayo,” Mayoyo told Phakaaathi.

“In terms of culture, Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are not that different, Khuzwayo understand the culture of being expected to winning and playing consistently.”

With many believing that Khuzwayo will walk into Bucs’ starting XI, Mayoyo says the Umlazi-born goal minder needs to fight for his place in the squad.

“The coach needs to make the competition fair. They should wait until the guys that there are not doing well for him to start, or if he does well then they should give him a chance.

“You need to remember that he left Chiefs without having played a lot of games or establishing himself as a number one goal keeper so he still has work to do. He is a quality goalkeeper but he just needs to win a place in the Pirates squad.”
