Pitso: We’ll bounce back

It was déjà vu for Pitso Mosimane after Golden Arrows landed a 1-0 knockout punch on Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday in a thrilling Nedbank Cup last-16 clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

“The script was written a long time ago and I told the boys how it was going to happen. I am starting to behave like a prophet,” said the Brazilians coach, who has now gone six games without a win in domestic competition.

Mosimane’s main mantra is that sides that play Sundowns sit back and defend for much of the game. Arrows won this one with a superbly taken goal on the break by Nduduzo Sibiya.

“This team is still good enough to put everybody in one half,” added Mosimane.

” We will try and win one game because if we win one game in the league then everything turns around. We haven’t had a win in five games in the league but we are still in the right place. There is time for us to bounce back.”

He said his side’s recent misfortunes are mainly down to his misfiring forwards, and as such, he will not rush goalkeeper Denis Onyango back as the Ugandan is still said to be recovering from a knee injury that has kept him on the sidelines since February.

“We keep saying next week, but the goalkeeping coach said I need to have a fit Onyango for the remaining games. I don’t think we should rush him. Our goalkeepers are on holiday, goalkeepers on the other side are winning Man-of-the-Match awards. The problem is up front. We will wait for Denis, he can rest a bit.”

Arrows coach Clinton Larsen, meanwhile, maintained that although there is no mandate set for him to deliver any silverware, he would be pleased to see his side enjoy a great run in the competition.

“We will wait for the draw and see who is next. We don’t have too much expectation at the club. It would be nice to go a bit further in this run, but we haven’t been put under any form of pressure to win a trophy,” said Larsen.
