Sangweni set to revive career at Maritzburg

Newly signed Maritzburg United midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni hopes to revive his once-promising career with the Team of Choice.

Sangweni has played for PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns before he was shipped back to Chippa United where he was released.

The 30-year-old has surfaced at United after a successful trial stint with coach Eric Tinkler’s side.

“I disappointed myself and a lot of people,” Sangweni told reporters. “But right now I just want to use this opportunity to revive my career.

“I didn’t play more seasons at Sundowns and Pirates. I had challenges off the field of play (which affected me). It was a challenge that had to do with family, but those are personal issues that I’m not at liberty to divulge in public.

“Last season I was near my family as I was playing for Richards Bay FC. I’ve resolved my issues and everything is now in order.”
