Shabalala raises hand to help Chiefs end trophy drought

At 19, Mduduzi Shabalala has become a vital cog in Arthur Zwane’s Kaizer Chiefs team and he has raised his hand to help end the long running trophy drought.

Chiefs have gone an unbelievable eight years without any silverware. This is obviously an embarrassment for the club who built their brand around winning trophies.
But Shabalala is confident that they are the generation who can bring back the glory days to Naturena.
“Obviously, we are the ones who can change this,” Shabalala told the club’s website.
“We are the ones who are playing and we are trying our level best so that we can get to the final and win the Nedbank Cup and put the club back where it belongs.
“The commitment, the fight and the desire is there for us to go all the way,” added Shabalala.
Chiefs to take advantage of Royal AM weaknesses
The young attacking midfielder also called on the supporters to continue showing love for the team despite their disappointment at the lack of success in the past few years.
“I can only say that they must come in numbers to all our games that we play…
“They are a great motivation to us, like an extra man in the game. They help us to push more than the opponents because of their voices in the stands.
“The supporters can help us turn things around and change the situation of a game, so I’m begging…
“Please come in numbers and help us try to win the Nedbank Cup,” said Shabalala.

Chiefs have to knock Royal AM out of their way in the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup.
The game is at Chatsworth Stadium in Durban on Sunday at 6pm, and Shabalala said Chiefs have a plan for the Durban side.
“We have been looking at them. I watched their game against Marumo.
“We saw their weaknesses and their strong points. We’ll try to take advantage of their weaknesses because they are a good ball-playing team, just like us.
“So, we’ll try to do our best to score as many goals as we can,” added the Chiefs youngster.
