Tinkler extends Maritzburg stay

Coach Eric Tinkler has signed a two-year deal with Maritzburg United.

After helping the Team of Choice retain their Absa Premiership status in the relegation/promotional playoffs the club has tied down Tinkler for two years.

Tinkler was linked with a move away from United after the relegation/promotional playoffs with reported interest from AmaZulu as Cavin Johnson is said to be on his way out of Usuthu.

However, Tinkler has now committed to staying at United as they prepare for next season and will reunite with his chargers for pre-season training later this month.

“On the field of play, let’s not look to make massive changes, because I think that’s just going to confuse everyone. I want to try and rebuild what was good, what they know, and bring a positive vibe to training and to the club,” said Tinkler.

Club chairperson Farook Kadodia believes Tinkler is the perfect coach to help United achieve its goals.

“There seems to be a real synergy between the coach and Maritzburg United, and we are confident that he is the right man to take us forward and get us back where we want to be, challenging for a position in the top eight as a minimum,” said Kadodia.
