Wits not signing Tanzanian striker

Regulations on signing foreign players prevented Bidvest Wits from signing Tanzanian-born striker Uhuru Suleiman.

The Clever Boys have already exceeded their foreign quota for this season, having registered James Keene, Gabadinho Mhango, Gerald Phiri Jnr, Amr Gamal and Slavko Damjanovic.

Wits coach Gavin Hunt confirmed at media briefing on Thursday that the 28-year-old striker is not joining the club.

“Look, we can‘t take him. I’m not going to be able to sign because he is a foreigner and at the moment, we’ve got five foreigners in the team,” Hunt told the media.
