Middendorp slams ‘noisy’ Pitso for speaking about Chiefs

By Thembinkosi Sekgaphane

Following his team’s 2-1 win over Black Leopards in Thohoyandou, Mosimane took a dig at Chiefs, saying that Sundowns need to benefit from referees’ mistakes just like Chiefs.

“When it’s Chiefs, it’s always a penalty, it was a penalty for Chiefs yesterday. I must get a penalty also. I must benefit. Chiefs is benefitting from the mistakes of referees, it’s not about Chiefs, I’m highlighting the realities,” Mosimane told SuperSport TV after the game.

Speaking during a build-up of Saturday’s Shell Helix Ultra Cup clash between Chiefs and Sundowns at SABC studios on Monday, Middendorp asked Mosimane to stop making comments about Chiefs in interviews and focus on his players and Sundowns.

“He (Mosimane) is making a lot of noise recently and I don’t believe him,” said Middendorp.

“He is making a lot of noise and not about his own team but about other teams what it says to you, I think there must be a little bit of respect or fear. I talk about my players, my team and that’s it. I don’t have to lead or go into referee’s decisions about what is right. Why are you doing this when you are the champion of the PSL,” said the Chiefs coach.

Mosimane responded : “I am happy the heard the noise we don’t feel sorry for anybody just because we are the champions of last year or not. He had said it himself that other teams can benefit others don’t, why can’t I highlight it.

“You know I will say it against any team in the PSL whether you like it or not. Humour or no humour you will feel that I am around,” added Mosimane.
