Lyle Foster returned from suspension to score his third English Premier League goal of the season for Burnley on Tuesday, and it was finally in a winning cause, as the Clarets picked up a 2-1 victory at Luton Town.
Foster struck in first half stoppage time, running clear of the Luton defence after a fine pass from Sander Berge, before beating Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski with a fine finish.
“It’s good for us to get our first win in the Premier League and we kick on from here,” Foster said on Premier League Productions after the game.
The 23 year-old Bafana Bafana striker now has three goals in four EPL appearances for Burnley this season. He might have had more but for rush of blood to the head that saw him received a straight red card against Nottingham Forest, meaning he missed league games against Manchester United and Newcastle.
Foster’s goal put Burnley 1-0 up and he was substituted in the 80th minute to a raucous reception from the away fans.
Luton did put a lot of pressure on Burnley in the second half and grabbed an equaliser through substitute Elijah Adebayo in the 84th minute.
Just a minute later, however, Burnley substitute Jacob Bruun Larsen cut in from the right and curled in a brilliant finish to secure all three points for Kompany’s men.
Foster’s next chance to shine comes on Saturday when Burnley take on Chelsea at Turf Moor. He is then expected to join up with Bafana Bafana for friendly internationals against Eswatini and the Ivory Coast.
