ComicEx is coming to Gold Reef City

Joburgs geeks can look forward to another busy weekend.

Johannesburg’s fans of comics, Fortnite, Nerf and cosplay are gearing up for a fun weekend on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June as ComicEx SA comes to Gold Reef City.

The city has been inundated with events of this nature of late with Comiccon launching in SA in 2018 and the recent ICON comics and games festival that took place at Emperor’s palace. The team behind this convention though promises to deliver retro arcade games, a ComicEx Idols and educational robots as well as VR Simulators in addition to the usual stalls and games.

There will also be an artist’s alley at which it will be possible to commission artworks and meet the artists.

Cosplay is set to play an enormous part in this festival with both Saturday and Sunday packed with a range of events to get everyone dressing up from kiddies competitions to a Cosplay parade.

The event will also support CANSA East Rand and SPCA Johannesburg, and as such fest-goers will be able to take part in a Shavathon at ComicEx and support cancer research.

The action will be going down at Gold Reef City Casino on Parking Levels 4 and 5 from 09h30 to 18h00 each day. Tickets are R100 per person for a one-day pass and R150 for a two-day pass. Kids under 4 years are free. Tickets are available from Computicket and at the door.
