In tough times luxuries are often the first to be cut, and in the last two years with Covid-19, many Matrics lost out on having their Matric Farewells. Hence the idea was born this year that Riviera on Vaal Hotel & Country Club with the Riviera Needs Fund and 90.6 FM will host a Greenkeeper’s Revenge Golf Day with the purpose of raising funds to be able to give one school in the Vaal Triangle the opportunity to win a fully sponsored, dream Matric Farewell.
The Radio competition was launched on 90.6 FM and all schools in the Vaal Triangle were invited to submit a short video, motivating why their school should win. Out of a selection of entries, Destinata School from Meyerton was selected as the winner of the Matric Farewell Competition. On the December 2, just as the last of the Matric Exams where completed, it was time for them to come and enjoy their win at “On the Vaal”, one of the beautiful new function venues at the Riviera on Vaal Hotel.
The Matrics arrived in style with luxury cars and beautiful evening dresses and suites, even Mr Lottering, the Principal, commented in his welcoming speech how beautiful and grown up they all look, ready for the adult world.
After a scrumptious meal provided by the hotel, it was DJ Tony Blom’s turn to pump up the music and get everyone’s feet moving and dancing!
It was definitely a night that will be remembered!
