Newly tarred roads launched in Meyerton Farms
The roads on Alma Road and Njala Street were upgraded from gravel to tar at a total cost of over R9m.
The Midvaal Local Municipality (MLM) officially revealed two newly constructed tar road projects in Meyerton Farms.
According to MLM, the move reinforces the municipality’s commitment to infrastructure development. The roads on Alma Road and Njala Street were upgraded from gravel to tar at a total cost of over R9m.
The scope of work included the layer work, surfacing, curbing, road signs, and road markings. Both projects were completed within budget and ahead of schedule.
The road projects were identified in the municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) as a priority to address the community’s developmental needs.
“As a municipality, we are proud to have fulfilled this IDP commitment. As part of our empowerment efforts, 11 SMMEs were contracted in both wards and 14 local labourers were employed for the project.
“The newly tarred roads are set to significantly improve the daily lives of our residents, ensuring safer and more convenient travel. MLM reassures residents that it is moving forward with plans to convert gravel roads to tar across our areas and communities. The municipality is also working on a gravel-to-tar project in Highbury on Bloubok Road, Takbok Road, and Steenbok Road. We are leveraging our resources to extend road infrastructure to as many communities as possible.”
Midvaal states it will continue investing in infrastructure development to ensure residents can travel safely and easily
