The annual Wiggle Waggle Day, presented by the Stonehaven on Vaal and the SPCA Vereeniging & Vanderbijlpark, was held on 17 June at Stonehaven on Vaal.
The funds raised from this fundraising initiative will be put into good use providing care and assistance to many needy animals in the district this month.
“As you know we get no funding from the government and in order to keep our doors open and our wheels rolling, we fundraise through events like these to make ends meet,” says Marlien de Klerk, manager of the two local SPCAs.
“As a Non-Profit Organisation we totally rely upon the goodwill of our community, businesses, suppliers, supporters and volunteers to make these fundraisers a success.
“We would like to give a paw felt thanks to our community, businesses, suppliers, supporters and volunteers for their kindness and assistance with this fundraising initiative which certainly helped make the day a success.”
She stated further that for animal welfare workers it was fabulous to see so many happy, healthy animals in one place whilst their owners were all walking around proudly presenting them to the public.
“By supporting our day you have also given the SPCA staff motivation to face their daily tasks, highlighting the fact that the community does support and recognise our daily efforts, even though it sometimes feels like a thankless task,” Marlien concluded.
“We will continue to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves with the support of the community and together we can make a difference in all animal welfare.”
