R16 million upgrade for 11 ELM roads

A multi-million rand roads rehabilitation programme is underway in parts of Vanderbijlpark and Vereeniging. As part of its roads maintenance plan, Emfuleni Local Municipality is spending over R16-million to upgrade parts of its road network.

This includes milling and resealing and pothole patching of over 4 kilometres.
Four contractors: Actophambili Roads, Mobofa Trading, Magic Engineers and Mthembu Mvelase have been appointed for the road-works, which have already commenced on some of the sites.
The following roads have been earmarked for the rehabilitation programme:
VANDERBIJLPARK
• Corner General Hertzog and Klasie Havenga Street (pothole patching).
• Jan Van Riebeeck Street (pothole patching).
• Eric Louw Street (Milling and Resealing of 351 meters).
• DF Malan Street (Milling and Resealing of 150 meters).
• Attie Fourie Street (Milling and Resealing of 202 meters).
• Frikkie Meyer Street (Milling and Resealing of 700 meters).
• Livingstone Street (Milling and Resealing of 650 meters).
VEREENIGING
• Blackhood Road, Three Rivers (pothole patching).
• Houtkop Road, Unitas Park (Milling and Resealing of 1.3 km).
• Union Street (Milling and Resealing of 512 meters).
• Leslie Street (Milling and Resealing of 315 meters).
