Horse Care Unit receives R50 000

MEYERTON. - Highveld Horse Care Unit in Meyerton received a cheque for R50 000 which is the result of the running of this year’s Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile held at Turffontein Racecourse recently in which 16 worthy causes share R1-million depending on where the horse they are affiliated to in the race finishes.

After the successful running of the 2020 edition of the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile, at Turffontein Racecourse recently, some of the 16 charities that benefit from the race were visited and presented with their cheques on Monday, November 9. Receiving one of these donations was the Highveld Horse Care Unit in Meyerton that received R50 000 after the horse affiliated to the Unit, Zillzaal, finished fifth in the Charity Mile. Here Emperors Palace’s Lee Hermann (left) is pictured with the Unit’s Theresa Hodgkinson (MD), Tsepho Msiza (Junior Inspector) and Dunmore Gonoya (Junior Inspector) after presenting them with the cheque. With them is Romantic Era one of the thoroughbred racehorses currently undergoing rehabilitation at the organization.
