Modisakeng dies at the age of 55.

It is said that Modisakeng died due to Covid-19 complications. Modisakeng was a member of the ANC Provincial Executive Committee and, at some point, also served as the head of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA).

Tributes poured in on social media with many commending her work ethic and persona. Before serving as Executive Mayor of SDM, Modisakeng had been its speaker since 2011. She was also a former Mayor of Lesedi Local Municipality in Heidelberg. At the time of going to print Vaalweekblad was awaiting official comment from the SDM. (This is a developing story)
