‘Research the role of cannabis in fighting Covid-19’
VANDERBIJLPARK. - South Africa’s leading licensed medical Cannabis grower - based in Emfuleni - and organised business have urged the Gauteng Provincial Government to urgently support the local industry and also fully research the role of the miracle green plant in fighting Covid-19.

The call to Premier David Makhura comes as the Covid “Third Wave” devastates especially the economic hub of South Africa – Gauteng Province – and forced President Cyril Ramaphosa to impose Level 4 restrictions on Sunday.
Now CBD Full Spectrum, based in Vanderbijlpark and the Golden Triangle Chamber of Commerce (GTCoC) have both written together to Premier Makhura on removing regulatory barriers preventing the industry from fully accessing both domestic and export markets.
The GTCoC fully supported the CBD Full Spectrum drive to develop the Sedibeng-based medical Cannabis industry rapidly and create a regulatory framework for broad product access and removal of market bottlenecks.
“This will create jobs and expand production but the immediate critical factor for our Emfuleni medical Cannabis industry is its products also be dispensed by pharmacies in addition to medical doctors,” said Klippies Kritzinger of GTCoC. Other severely limiting medical Cannabis industry bottlenecks include:
- Removal of a 500kg annual limit on exports for the entire medical Cannabis sector
- Immediately allow pharmacies to dispense legal medical Cannabis, also for Covid-19
- Establish a Special Economic Zone immediately in Gauteng to grow the medical Cannabis industry in throughout the Sedibeng region including Emfuleni.
