Man’s body found floating in dam

Police proceeded to the scene. On arrival they found a body floating in the dam. SAPS divers were called and recovered the body from the water.

DE DEUR. – The police in De Deur have launched an Inquest case docket after the body of an African male was found floating in a dam on Tuesday.

Police Spokesperson Constable Maria Letsele says members received a call  of a drowning incident at a dam next to Grasmere Road in Wieliersfarm.

“Police proceeded to the scene. On arrival they found a body floating in the dam. SAPS divers were called and recovered the body from the water.

“It was later discovered that the body is that of a male in his late 30s. Paramedics certified him dead on the scene.”

Letsele says the motive behind the incident will form part of the investigation.

“Anyone with information of what might have transpired is asked to call De Deur SAPS on 016 450 9200.”
