Yaduvir first matriculant ever to achieve seven distinctions at Greenacres Private College

He is off to do his Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science.

Yaduvir Govender, Greenacres Private College’s top performing matriculant for 2021, wants to become a medical doctor and is heading to the University of the Witwatersrand to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in Health Science.

This is a stepping stone towards obtaining his MBChB qualification (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).

He received a scholarship after achieving a total seven distinctions in the senior certificate exams. These include distinctions for Afrikaans (First Additional Language), English (Home Language), Economics, Accounting, Life Sciences, Mathematics and Life Orientation.

He also received a B symbol for physical science. Yaduvir is the first ever pupil at Greenacres to achieve seven distinctions – an achievement that the school is very proud of.

Matriculating during a global pandemic is no easy feat. Having missed school for 6 months during his Grade 11 year and having to conduct his studies online, Yaduvir nevertheless persevered and achieved excellent marks, despite all the challenges.

Speaking to Vaalweekblad after obtaining his results, Yaduvir thanked the principal for her constant dedication to all students, as well as the teachers for their support and commitment.

“My principal’s leadership and positive attitude have helped us pull through during these challenging times and are much appreciated.

“All the grade 12 teachers were extremely committed, supportive and encouraging. They put in a lot of time and effort and assisted us during intervention classes in the late afternoons. They brought positivity and enthusiasm to each class,” says Yaduvir.

“I was extremely blessed to be surrounded by dedicated teachers. I thank Greenacres for all the love, support and guidance throughout my journey at the school,” he concluded.
