“Wie gaan verantwoordelikheid neem as mense weens slaggate in padongelukke sterf. Dis tyd dat daar aksie geneem word.”

Om die rede het die organisasie die volgende brief aan Metsimaholo gerig:
Dear Mr. Mayor
I am sending you this letter as a citizen of Sasolburg/ Vaalpark and co-founder of Bring Hoop Vaal triangle. Over the last couple of months, the people of this once beautiful town have had to endure problematic service delivery on which I would like to state the following points:
• The Municipality is directly liable for failure of businesses due to deteriorating roads and infrastructure. This will also have an economic impact on the long term on the revenue of the Municipality.
• Safeguards and security measures to prevent cable theft. This also has a direct financial impact on all businesses and homeowners in Sasolburg, Vaalpark and Naledi.
• Excessive property tax increases which can not be justified when looking at the conditions of roads, streetlights and servicing of all parks.
• Poor billing system where failure to record correct monthly usage has caused incorrect accounts.
• Little to no traffic department activity, numerous hot spots were identified to the council where the law is not being adhered to. Till this day nothing has been done.
Bring Hoop Vaal triangle / Boere Droogtehulp SA NPC with the help of public funding has spent thousands of Rands on assisting with the repairs of potholes, cutting of grass and other activities to try and relieve some of the damage which have been done over the last couple of years.
The Municipality is in transgression with their constitutional obligations by not providing sustainable value for money service delivery. These actions will be the cause of motor vehicle accidents which can take lives due to the conditions of our roads and streetlights (What is left of the roads and lights)
As a citizen it seems our Municipality is more concerned about not owing money to Eskom and achieving clean audits, than doing what needs to be done to repair a broken town. Talk to us, get us involved and we can repair what needs to be repaired.
What we expect:
Have your thousands of admin staff walk this town and clean it, especially the Municipal office block workers. Lead by example.
Immediately make money available to procure tar where all the different organisation (including us) will assist with the repairs of roads.
(Stop wasting our money on contractors who clearly have no idea what they are doing)
The time has come to deliver on promises made.
Regards
Stephen Venter
