Instead of putting up lots of Christmas décor for the Festive Season, this year River Square decided to make sure that children from various homes in the Vaal have their Christmas wish fulfilled.

The shopping center asked kids from the Sedibeng Children’s Haven, Galaxy Children’s Village, Trentico and Lerato Children’s Home to write to Santa and tell him about their Christmas wishes.

The list compiled includes items such as school bags, barbie dolls, clothing, model books, “horsey stuff”, play horses, make-up, princess dresses, tea sets, barbie dolls, dolls with prams, shoes, watches, dog brushes, a bow for a dog, dog toys, skateboards, toy horses, moonbags, bicycles, tekkies in various sizes, hair accessories, nail sets, bug catchers, pink boom boxes, hair straighteners, red bedding, Hot Wheels cars, stationery, bluetooth ear pods, headphones, diaries, rugby balls, cricket balls, Nerf guns, remote controlled cars, fishing equipment and camping equipment.

With the help of shoppers, River Square wants to make every kid’s wish come true, and so far River Square says it has been warmed by the responses it has received thus far.

You can visit River Square’s Fashion Court on or before 4 December to drop the items off.

River Square encourages members of the public to contribute to the mall’s donation boxes.

“Your donations will grant gifts for these four children’s homes and help make this Christmas the best one yet. The donation boxes will be available in the centre for any contributions you would like to make towards the wish lists on or before 4 December,” says Marinda Smook, marketing manager for River Square.
