Teixeira issued a Christmas and New Year’s message. In his  message, he writes:

“The festive season is upon us, it is a time when family and friends gather to celebrate. It is a season to show love and compassion.

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, New Year’s Eve, or New Year’s Day I urge everyone to make this a time of giving.

Many of us will be sharing gifts with loved ones.

Let us remember those who are less fortunate and struggling to make the festive season enjoyable.

Anything you can do and give, no matter how big or small will make a difference to those in need.

Our administration recently celebrated its first year in office.

When we came into office one of our priorities was to fill key senior and vital vacancies, which was done successfully.

We planned to continue to build on our track record of good governance and providing excellent service delivery.

Our municipality remains committed to improving the lives of our residents, and our doors are open for those with innovative ideas to make our municipality work even better.

We are aware that people will be travelling to different places to spend it and celebrate with their loved ones.

Some will be travelling to holiday destinations for some well-deserved downtime and relaxation.

The festive season has high traffic volumes and is usually followed by unacceptable high levels of fatalities on the roads.

I urge everyone to take special care when travelling and to drive responsibly.

Let us follow the rules of the road – do not drink and drive, don’t speed, and don’t text and drive so we can all make it to 2023 safely.
