Ingenio’s little legends in action

The stands were packed with proud parents and grandparents, all in high spirits and ready to cheer on the young stars.

VANDERBIJLPARK – Energy and excitement filled the air last Saturday as Ingenio Academy held its annual athletics day at Hoërskool Transvalia.

The festivities kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony and a showstopping performance by the Grade RR and R cheerleading squad. From impressive cartwheels to perfectly executed human pyramids, these tiny athletes set an infectious tone for the day, leaving the crowd beaming.

Then, it was time for the main events. The “little champs”, ranging from toddlers to Grade R students, showed incredible enthusiasm as they took to the track for sprints and hurdles. While the large crowds were a bit daunting for some of the smallest participants, the majority ran their hearts out, proudly collecting medals and trophies at the finish line.

“We are incredibly proud of the day’s success,” says Vice Principal Nicole Menino-Ackerman. “With over 250 Ingenio students participating, we couldn’t be more impressed by their spirit and effort.”

The day concluded with a dose of “friendly” adult competition. Parents and grandparents stepped onto the track to show off their own speed, including a remarkable 85-year-old grandfather who proved that age is just a number by crossing the finish line on his own.

* Ingenio Academy Vaal expressed their thanks to Hoërskool Transvalia for always being so accommodating to them.
