Midvaal marks Human Rights Day with Vaal Marina Walk

Despite the weather, residents turned out in numbers to walk, run and connect.

The Midvaal Local Municipality commemorated Human Rights Day on Saturday by hosting its annual Walk with the Mayor event at Vaal Marina.

The Walk with the Mayor initiative, led by Executive Mayor Alderman Peter Teixeira, is aimed at promoting social cohesion while encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle.

This year’s event saw the introduction of a 10km route, catering to more enthusiastic walkers and runners, alongside its standard 5km route.

Participants enjoyed the scenic surroundings of Vaal Marina and a vibrant programme of activities, including cultural group performances and aerobics sessions.

The municipality extended its sincere appreciation to all residents who braved the weather to participate and contribute to making the day a memorable success.
