ELM warns against job scam using its name to entice job seekers

ELM says it is aware that people are being contacted with fake offers of employment from scammers.

EMFULENI. – Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) has warned residents against a job scam using its name on SMS texts and social media platforms to entice job seekers.

ELM says it is aware that people are being contacted with fake offers of employment from scammers.

“Job seekers are offered fake opportunities and invited to an interview for a fee. ELM cautions that no municipal employee or politician is allowed to demand or request money for any job vacancy or interview.

“It should be noted that the municipality does not demand or request money whatsoever for any recruitment purposes, including the administration and processing of forms,” ELM said.

According to the municipality, the culprits use the names of existing ELM employees to defraud job seekers.

“The municipality distances itself from dubious operations and views any person paying money for an employment opportunity as an accomplice to fraud and corruption.”.
