Sedibeng cluster police honoured

VANDERBIJLPARK. – The Sedibeng Cluster police recently came together at the Emerald Casino and Resort in Vanderbijlpark to celebrate and honour their dedicated officers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment in their duty to serve the community.

Adorned in their finest evening gowns and sharp suits, officers from across the district gathered to applaud their collective achievements.

The ceremony was graced by a distinguished guest, District Commissioner Major General Nkhensani Lemba, who took the stage to address the assembly and underscore the importance of this special occasion.

Major General Lemba, while acknowledging her brief three-month tenure in office, expressed profound pride in the exceptional work carried out by her officers. She lauded their unwavering dedication to safeguarding the people of Sedibeng, recognizing the formidable challenges and demands that come with policing.

“In the district commissioners’ category, I will be recognising individuals who, during my three months in office, have demonstrated unwavering commitment and gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the safety of the people of Sedibeng,” Major General Lemba declared.

She also emphasised the arduous nature of police work, highlighting the crucial need for the collaboration of communities with law enforcement agencies. “Police work is far from easy; it’s a demanding and formidable task that necessitates the active involvement of our communities,” she noted.

One of the standout recipients of the Commissioner’s category award was Assistant Manager Peter Kele, representing the Sedibeng Community Safety Department. Kele expressed his profound joy at receiving the Sedibeng District Saps Commissioner Excellent Prestigious Award.

“This award holds immense significance for me, as an individual representing the Sedibeng District Municipality Community Safety department,” Kele expressed. “To be completely honest, I am truly elated to stand among the highly esteemed and hardworking individuals recognised for their exceptional dedication to the South African Police Services in the District of Sedibeng,” he added.

Kele further noted that this award marked a historical moment for the Sedibeng District Saps, as it was the first time that stakeholders and partners of the South African Police Services were being acknowledged and honoured in this fashion. “This distinction is a testament to our unwavering hard work, dedication, perseverance, and commitment to the betterment of the District of Sedibeng,” he remarked.

He also commended Major General Lemba for her approach and unwavering commitment, emphasising the pivotal role of stakeholders in preventing and reducing crime in the community.
