Woman’s body (97) found inside burned house

Fire brigades arrived at the scene and worked hard in extinguishing the fire until they managed to.

SEBOKENG.- A pensioner died a tragic death in Zone 14, Sebokeng this week.

An Inquest investigation is underway after a burnt body of an elderly woman (97) was found inside a burned-down house in Zone 14 Sebokeng on Monday.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said that a neighbour alleges that she was sleeping when she heard a sound of a breaking window, next door. She went to her window to check outside the yard, only to see a blazing fire at her neighbour’s house.

“She immediately woke others up so they could assist in extinguishing the fire so it wouldn’t spread, but they couldn’t. Fire brigades arrived at the scene and worked hard in extinguishing the fire until they managed to,” Mokhachane added.

During the search of the house, the lifeless body of the 97-year-old was found burnt beyond recognition in a bedroom. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and no one has come forward with information.
