House robbery suspect arrested in Meyerton Farms

He was caught.

MEYERTON – A suspected house robber (20) was arrested in the early hours of October 22 following an incident in Apie Street, Meyerton Farms.

Constable Tlaleng Moloi, a spokesperson for the police in Meyerton, says according to information received, three unknown males allegedly gained access to the property by breaking open the garage door.

Once inside the house they held the occupant at gunpoint and took electrical wires, a cellphone and all the light bulbs on the property.

Constable Alfred Khathidi and Constable Thabo Mosia from Meyerton SAPS responded swiftly and as a result, one suspect was arrested and charged with house robbery.

The other two suspects managed to get away. According to Moloi, the arrested suspect will be profiled at the police station to determine whether he was involved in other criminal activities in Meyeron and surrounding areas. He is expected to appear in the Meyerton Magistrate’s Court soon.

Meyerton’s Station Commander Colonel Senzangakhona Christopher Mohale commended the swift reaction by the members involved that led to the apprehension of the suspect.

“This is a warning to all criminals who are dealing in property related criminality. The law will eventually catch up with you and we will arrest you”, he concluded.
