The mayor says this Lekgotla represents a critical opportunity for the Mayoral Committee to collectively shape the future of Emfuleni
Emfuleni Local Municipality recently held a two-day Mayoral Committee (Mayco) Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and Budget Strategic Planning Lekgotla, focusing on financial stability and sustainable development.
In a statement, the municipality described the gathering as a productive step towards charting a new course for governance. Key political figures and executive management convened to assess the existing IDP, identify challenges, and refine the budget to align with Emfuleni’s strategic priorities.
Day one featured in-depth discussions on infrastructure, service delivery, economic development, and financial management. Workshops and brainstorming sessions encouraged a collaborative approach to tackling the municipality’s most pressing issues.
“This Lekgotla represents a critical opportunity for the Mayoral Committee to collectively shape the future of Emfuleni,” said Executive Mayor Sipho Radebe. “Through open dialogue and strategic planning, we aim to deliver an IDP and budget that truly reflect the needs of our community.”
The outcomes of the Lekgotla are expected to drive improved service delivery and financial sustainability. Emfuleni has committed to transparency, promising public engagement throughout the IDP and budget process. The draft documents will soon be made available for public comment, encouraging residents to contribute to shaping the municipality’s future.
