For the second month in a row motorists will be delighted to find some further relief at the pumps this month as the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has announced significant decreases across fuel grades, effective from midnight on Tuesday 1 April 2025.

Henry van der Merwe, Chairman of the South African Petroleum Retailers Association (SAPRA), a proud association of the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI), says amidst all the uncertainty around the budget, the price cuts are no April fool’s joke and will provide much-needed economic relief for many South African motorists.

“The decreases will positively impact businesses and consumers alike, easing financial strain on transport costs and the price of goods,” says van der Merwe. “Fuel price fluctuations are always a concern, and we are pleased to see a second downward adjustment this month. Diesel prices are showing the greatest decrease and motorists in coastal regions will benefit most from the decreases in both petrol and diesel,” he says.

• 93 ULP & LRP: 58.00 cents per litre decrease (Retail Pump Price)
• 95 ULP & LRP: 72.00 cents per litre decrease (Retail Pump Price)

Coastal:

• 93 ULP & LRP: 62.00 cents per litre decrease (Retail Pump Price)
• 95 ULP & LRP: 76.00 cents per litre decrease (Retail Pump Price)

DIESEL

Gauteng:

• 0.05% Sulphur Content: 83.80 cents per litre decrease
• 0.005% Sulphur Content: 85.80 cents per litre decrease

Coastal:

• 0.05% Sulphur Content: 88.00 cents per litre decrease
• 0.005% Sulphur Content: 90.00 cents per litre decrease
